How India’s rising fitness culture can become a solution to its litter problem

 

The problem with Indians is that lack of respect for cleaning or garbage collecting people

People called them ragpicker or garbage people there exist a social discrimination or society is divided between “clean” and “dirty” people. This should be eliminated India has one of the youngest population and they have time and energy passion but not the resources that’s where it feels the gap and doing something alone doesn’t actually drives for long terms also. The existing societal norm affect the young people psychologically and blocks them from doing good to the Society.




 Kind of ironic is that societal thinking is negatively affecting the society. The upcoming health concern youth can be used to the cities advantage the concept of “plogging party” can be a good workout that help both the person and the cities. Plogging, which takes its name from the Swedish words plocka upp meaning pick up, has been around from 2016, but has started trending globally and in India in the last few months. Its popularity could be due to growing awareness about plastic pollution and the presence of microplastics in food and water. It can be a free and helpful exercise. According to Swedish health app Lifesum, half an hour of plogging burns 288 calories compared to just 235 calories burned while jogging for the same period. Also anyone can do it anywhere anytime

With influx of NRI and youngster outside the country also people who spend time outdoors runners and cyclist after and pandemic notice trash more it can be used to promote plogging and decrease the societal stigma
