Cicada 3301 The Greatest Internet Mystery!

 A bizarre online puzzle known only as Cicada 3301, or "3301" for short, ended more than a year of silence with a single tweet. The name "Cicada-3300" was given to a mysterious organisation that has published a series of puzzles three times in order to attract the attention of the world's most popular online gaming site, Reddit. Contrary to popular belief, the Cicadas are not an organisation called 3300, as has been assumed, but a group of people of the same name who are recruiting for a series of online games in the form of "cicadas" and other online puzzles. 

The 2012 winner of the puzzle was told that Cicada-3301 is an organization of several different cells known as "broods" that operate independently of each other. Marcus, who successfully completed the puzzle in 2012, worked with a project called CAKES on a website he created where he works with other members of his group. 

When Eriksson arrived, Cicada-3301 spread a message in which they were disappointed that a group of people had formed to share a puzzle they had discovered after one of their members had completed every step of the way, just as he had done. But when the time came, they deleted it again, and this time it was emailed with a final puzzle to be sent to all the finalists. After the revelation, the finalist disappeared from the internet altogether. However, when he arrived, he spread a message saying that he was disappointed with the idea of forming a group of people who share a piece of the puzzle, but not by anyone except the members who took each step in the way he did. But then, after a few days of silence, all the finalists received emails about a final puzzle in a strange twist of fate. 

    

This news led to speculation that Cicada-3301 was simply one of the smartest minds to have found the decryption, but not the last. 

The community around the Cicada-3301 puzzle is made up of intelligent individuals, theorists and puzzle-lovers. Given the mysterious nature of the conundrum, it is only natural that people want to know what kind of organization is behind it. It's not as if its target audience is as crazy as it is satisfying and true - too. The frustrating thing about cicadas is the number of casual curiosity - seekers try to crack them, but the community of solvers who run the Discovering Cicadas forum says it has attracted a lot of clumsy and paranoid people. 

    

If Cicada-3301 is an attempt to hire future employees on the child's side - trolling - then most people will be puzzled by the puzzle. Adding a book with secret languages to decipher doesn't make it any better, but it's still a mystery, right?

A handful of people have come forward claiming to have been recruited by Cicada-3301, giving details of what the organization expects them to do. Since 2012, few have unlocked the cryptogram puzzle, which is designed to recruit the best of the good codebreakers. No tools are required to decipher it, and only three of its puzzles exist; only two have been solved to date. 

    

A young Californian who spoke to CBS News said he found himself in a chatroom with people claiming to have organized the Cicada puzzle. He does not believe the mystery is solved, of course, and has not shown any evidence that the person is simply a "cicada enthusiast."

    

Cicada first became known to the public after posting a fascinating message and photo of a duck on 4chan. The cicada mystery began in 2014 after the image was posted on 4Chan, just as the 2013 hunt had a Twitter feed. 

Claiming to be searching for highly intelligent individuals, the Cicada 3301 puzzle challenged visitors to find a secret message hidden in the accompanying image. The next puzzle we received in an email was a proprietary promotional puzzle from the US Navy. That was because, after studying the cicadas, they thought it would be cool to release their own promotional puzzles. 

    

Under the pretext of searching for highly intelligent individuals, the Cicada 3301 puzzle challenged visitors to find a secret message hidden in the accompanying image. Of course, this message was painted on the back of a picture of a cicada, on which a black-and-white picture was to be seen. 

    

One day, while idly googling "Cicada 3301," I discovered a wiki page about the puzzle that revealed a new development. So I started to solve it, which kept repeating itself over the years, leaving cryptanalysts and hackers baffled. Wanner claims to have solved the 2012 riddle with a group that included his friend Tekk-nolagi, who often speaks "Tekk" and also gave interviews about his time on the book. This theory seems to be supported by the fact that he is the only one to publicly announce the successful completion of the Cicada 3301 puzzle.
